Food Safety in catering
Level 2
£45.00 Per Person
This course is essential for anyone who handles or prepares food for others, and it is accredited by the CIEH (the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health). It concentrates on the basic principles of good practice needed in order to handle and store food safely
The Principles of Manual Handling
This half day course enables employees to contribute to the development of safer manual handling methods and tasks. It introduces candidates to the hazards and risks involved in manual handling and outlines what to expect from a manual handling assessment. It will enable employees to develop safer manual handling techniques in the workplace.
First Aid at Work
3 Day
£120.00 Per Person
This is a detailed 3 day course suitable for anyone who works with others of any age. This qualification allows you to be a Designated First Aider. The course is highly interactive and hands-on, combining theory with practice to equip students with the knowledge, confidence and skills to practice first aid in a competent, safe and professional manner.
1 Day
£55.00 Per Person
This course offers training in how to deal with an unconscious patient, resuscitation, control of bleeding and other essential skills. This course exceeds the guidelines laid down by the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations for an Appointed Person. On completion of the course you will receive a certificate accredited by Qualsafe.
Health and Safety in the workplace Level 1
£50.00 Per Person
Level 1 award in Health and Safety is run as a half-day course. The qualification has been designed to meet the needs of those who are entering the workplace for the first time, either as part of a work experience programme or at the start of employment, by providing an awareness of key health and safety issues. This course is accredited by the CIEH (Chartered Institute of Environmental Health)
Health and Safety in the Workplace
This course will provide you with an insight into the legal framework of health and safety in the UK ensuring that you gain a basic understanding of health and safety principles. Learn how to identify key hazards in a working environment in order to reduce risks and prevent accidents. This course is approved by the CIEH (Chartered Institute of Environmental Health).
2 Day Refresher
£86.00 Per Person
This course is run over two-days and allows for re-certification of First Aid at Work qualified staff.
The criteria are the same as for the initial three-day course.

Twenty-seven years with the Welsh ambulance service until a medical condition put an end to my career as a paramedic. After a while with treatment I got my condition under good control. Later I decided to put my years of experience and qualifications to good use and became a first aid instructor/assessor. I like to deliver my lessons in an interesting, relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Effective Staff Supervision and Development
Becoming an effective supervisor is about clear communication with your team, setting goals and objecives that ensure you motivate and develop your staff and continuously improve their performance to ensure they contribute to effective team working.
You need to maximise your strenghts and minimise your weakenesses whilst dealing with difficult situations and people confidently.
This workshop will assist you to review your current practice in your role as a supervisor and will assist you to understand the roles and responsibilities of a supervisor so that you are able to confidently manage your team to meet your objectives.
Effective Recruitment and Selection
Recruitment, Equality and Diversity training brings together information about equalities legislation and how this applies to the recruitment and selection process.
The training is structured around the best practice in recruitment and selection and explores how you can ensure that you appoint the best person for the post without bias and discrimination influencing the recruitment panels decision.
This training also provides participants with information about issues of diversity and discrimination including equalities legislation so participants will be able to identify the impact of diversity issues for themselves and within an organisational context.

Understanding Confidentiality in the Workplace
This course will address issues around confidentiality and will look at relevant legislation and good practice. It will describe what confidentiality means in a professional context, explain how the DPA 1998 applies Identify ways to improve knowledge & practice on confidentiality issues.
Complying with the Disability Discrimination Act
The course covers the legislation and the rights of disabled people under the Disability Discrimination Act.

Minutes are the official notes taken at a meeting and are an important record for even the smallest organisation. This course will look at the best way to take notes and how to pick up essential skills for taking correct and accurate minutes. Topics will include how to draw up an agenda and how to take good minutes. The course will also give hints and tips on how to select the most relevant information in order to produce a clear and user-friendly set of minutes.
Jo is a qualified trainer providing training particularly focussing on equality and diversity in the voluntary, public and business sector.
A key specialism has evolved from over 20 years working in equalities in the public and voluntary sector mostly at Director level on key policy and practice in relation to race, gender, age, disability discrimination and its prevention. Jo also trains organisations on their performance management and other employment issues.
Other roles are; currently the Facilitator for North Wales Crown Prosecution Service Hate Crime Scrutiny Panel and for the Domestic Violence Panel.
Jo also delivers bespoke training on the Disability Discrimination Act to CAB advisors across England and Wales for the National Disabled Workers Group and was previously employed by the Disability Rights Commission as a Training Manager to deliver training across England and Wales.
